Mend Hotpoint TDL30 Dryer Machine Timer

Hotpoint TDL30 tumble dryer?

Machine appears to be 'dead' with no power as when you turn the timer and close the door nothing happens. It is fitted in to a unit in a fitted kitchen and is about 10 years old and has been totally trouble free. Thinking that getting an engineer out to have a look at it will probably cost about £80 and maybe it would be better to just cut my losses and buy a new one due to the age of the appliance.
