Mend Vauxhall Astra 1.8 Automatic Transmission

"07 Astra 1,8 auto. - car/spanner light comes on periodically and car stays?

"07 Astra 1,8 auto. - car/spanner light comes on periodically and car stays in D4 but can be driven ok by selecting lower gears, the car still has full power. When i turn the ignition off and then restart the car the light has gone out and car drives ok.
