gas oven?

sounds like it could be the thermocouple.it sits in the main oven burner.if this fails the oven will light,but will go out when the oven control knob is released.iam not familiar with that range ,but I would suspect it works the same as a safety cut out, if the burner goes out for some reason ,the gas supply is shut down to the burner.as I say it maybe next to the burner or the actual gas reg valve may encorporate a electrically operated thermocouple .
