Mend Hotpoint Tumble Dryer Door Latch Broken

new door latch?

Door latch broken. Ordered a new one, arrived today. It fits perfectly but the door will not shut. Hotpoint have confirmed it is the correct part.
There appears to be a bar across the hole that is preventing the door from closing!
Any ideas?
