Rowenta Iron Leaks:
Rowenta irons leak because the sealant used for the water reservoir dries out. The sealant needs to be replaced. This deals with the Rowenta Advancer model, but most models are similar.
You will need:
A torx driver
A flat bladed screw driver
Narrow scrapper
Adhesive Caulk
There are a total of 7 screws used to assemble the iron. You should only remove 4. Removing all 7 complicates the job.
1. Remove the two torx screws on the bottom of the iron.
2. Remove the single torx on the back plate of the iron and unsnap the base plate.
3. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to carefully pry the control panel (the panel with the steam/spray buttons) out.
4. Remove the single torx screw under the control panel.
5. Carefully, slowly pull the reservoir apart.
6. Use small scrappers to remove the old sealing material from the top and bottom of the reservoir halves.
7. Carefully lay a bead of adhesive caulk in the āUā shaped channel on the bottom half and smooth it with your finger; removing excess. Let the caulk cure for about 30 mins, then add a small bead of fresh adhesive caulk in the āUā channel, do not dress this bead with your finger.
8. Lay the top half of the iron into the channel full of adhesive caulk (donāt forget to install the trim piece inside the reservoir!) and install the three torx screws that hold it together.
9. Reinstall the base plate and last torx screw.
10. Enjoy your Rowenta iron until the reservoir starts leaking again!
