how do I get rid of a very high pitch sound when the vacuum cleaner is on?

The vacumm works fine, but it has a very high pitch sound when it is on. What can I do to stop this noise?

I don't think you can. We have one and it makes a high pitched whistle while it's working.

The problem is that its moving a lot of air, very quickly and that is bound to make a lot of noise.
