how to fix a renault espace3 2.2td clutch master cylinder/pedal connection?

The connection to the pedal is a small pastic ring which fits over a peg at the back of the pedal.The ring has snapped and means that the pedal just moves back and forth. It seems a shame to replace the whole line.
