optima 701 leaking?

My optima 701 has a leak, if i tak the front cover off there is a copper cylinder arround 2inch O.D on top of the cover is a small black plastic cap (looks like a valve cap) the leak is from there. what can i do about this without a huge bill?

sounds like auto air release valve its brass and as black dust cover drain boiler and take valve to pieces and clean / or buy new one . cant cost much
