yes he put the clamp on what a farce that was it was making a small whirring noise then just started getting really loud so i turned it off but just turned the drum inside and the sound seems to come from back of drum

did he fit the clamp to the new fan before attaching it to the motor shaft?
did he fasten the coverplate for the fan on properly with the little black pin?

Dread to say it, but possibly something out of place, with fan, wires catching etc. Get him to check.
