My kenwood dishwasher has stopped cleaning properly?

My Kenwood, KDW12ST3A,dishwasher isn't cleaning properly any more. I found a perished rubber washer in the bottom. Is this something I could repair myself? I can't afford to pay anyone to repair it. Thank you in anticipation of a response : )
