Help!! Hit a rock in my clio?

Hi i hit a rock on my way home the rock hit the underside of the car, it made a really bad noise i stopped and reversed. there was a peice of plastic on the road but no obvious damage to the car. should i get it checked out/ what could the plastic be from? help!
