petrol in diesel?

it is possible that petrol has been put into a diesel but we are not sure. if it has it would be approx 50/50 mix. how can we test ?

ANY doubts and you should drain whole tank and fill with fresh diesel.DO NOT run as serious damage can be caused to engine!!!
