Mend Potterton Kingfisher Boiler

how can I mend my Kingfisher Potterton boiler?

The boiler starts and heats up normally but when the water correct temperature has been reached the boiler shuts down only to refire and light again causing the water to overheat and be released through the relief valve. Help please asap

Thanks Paul - the boiler is only three years old. I have already tried changing the stat and power flushing the system.

it sounds like boiler stat as gone is this a very old boiler. poss stat not turning off
