how can i fix 1998 renault laguna 2litre automatic problem?

can any one help i have a 1998 laguna auto never had any problems untill now service light comes on when first starting up and will not select 4th gear when it gets hot stop it in drive and start again light goes off and it runs normal had diagnostics done nothing found any help much appreciated

If there are no faults in memory then its probably the range switch. It can be dismantled to verify. It sits on top of the box. Undo shift lever (10mm spanner) Remove switch (30TX) Leave loom. Remove cover (10TX) press out wiper and inspect contacts if OK clean out grease from surfaces, polish and smear light grease on. reasemble. adjust in N there should be continuity on the exposed terminals.
