The big secret of dyson repairers everywhere! insert a small screwdriver into the small hole on the top of the button and prise the button up using another small flatblade screwdriver on the other side of the button to prise it evenly (there is a plastic tab inside the switch that you release ). undo the torx screw underneath and slide the whole unit up and out .

Use Google - select "Images" enter DC04 switch.
Look at the pictures - the switch cover comes off by prising it out and pulling it upwards - you can see the catch that locks it in place on the "flat" at the bottom.
