How can I mend my car's tape deck (1994 Nissan Sentra)?

How can I mend my car's tape deck (1994 Nissan Sentra)? When I put in a tape it, it tries to autoreverse the tape a couple of times, then spits it out without playing it. I have tried the old trick of repeatedly shoving a tape in, but it doesn't work. The tape deck has outsmarted me. Does anyone out there know how to fix it?
