what is the flashing blue light for on instant heat kettle?

Dunno, but I had the same issue with the same appliance. What I did though was filled the tank up and poured a cup of water, stopping it manually before it stopped by itself and that worked fine, so I did that for 5 or 6 cups, in a row, and it worked fine. I then went back to letting it stop automatically... and it worked fine, so I did that for another 5 or 6 cups worth, filling the tank inbetween obviously, and it seems to be working ok... we'll see.
