blown charger?

This is the label on the charger.
I actually plugged the charger intothe laptop first then into the wall socket then it went bang before i powered up the laptop.
Yes they will know i opened it as it was glued together to begin with.
Thanks for your help guys, i guess i will have to try & get someone to look at it wich defeats the object of learning to repair these myself.

It very, extremely, unprobable that the laptop is to blame.

Do you live in Europe? If so, your wall socket give 220V or 240V.
Was that an US charger? It expect 110V or 120V.
Was it a multi tention model? Was it set to 220/240V or 120V?
Plugging an US model in Europe is a very common cause of blowing power supplys...

Maybe you got a shorted, or otherwise deffective, charger. Return it ASAP, you may get lucky and get a new one or a refund, if they don't realise that you opened it.

If you are sure the prob is the laptop (did u plug the charger in then plug that into the laptop...then it went bang ?)If so then you will find that the + and - terminals inside the laptop are connected in some way,this will provide a short circuit to the charger and will blow it every time. Your options...1.open the laptop and use a meter to determine where the short circuit is occurring...it may even be something daft like a piece of foil jammed in the power socket. 2. pay to get it looked at. 3. bin....where do you live ? I could try if you were close.
