Baumatic BDW15 won't start washing?

Baumatic BDW15 won't start washing. It seems to start the empty part cycle, put in a bit of water then just makes noise and gets very hot inside.

There isn't an error code but the 00 on the timer display jumps up to 19 or 20. clicking the timer back to 00 just reverts to the higher numbers. No error code is shown.

There's lots of clunks in the test cycle but it justs heats the water to boiling
