I've seen this alot, usually as simple as a inline fuel filter,Inexpensive fix,The fuel filter is clogged causing very little fuel to pass so the choke helps by restricting the air. Since we know this is cheap,I would replace it first, Now we know we have a fuel sendin (flow) problem, So check the fuel lines from fuel tank to the carburetor,If no restrictions are found then take the carb apart clean it find a screen in fuel circuit or bowl clean it , clean fuel passages ,adjust floats clean needle, If no fuel bowl and float then look at diaphram for tear or blockage on the fuel block located on the end of carb which will have the fuel line connected to. remember to adjust your carb after u put it together. start with your throttle quarter turn from when it first touches adjustment called zero, then close both air needles high low idle be careful do not force the needles tight against the seat cause u will damage the seats then open one full turn that should start run and give u some kind of idle then adjust to specs. good luck, Samuel
