2001 micra starting problem?

my micra will start every now and again but has petrol starvaion i thought the pump had gone but if you leave it a minute it starts and runs fine do you thik i need a new fuel filter or is it the pump?

ive removed pipe from filter and no fuel on cranking the engine ive found out theres no power to the pump ? ive checked the fuse inside the car and its fine so i put a 12v live to the pump and all starts and idles well any ideas why its not getting power ?

remove the feed to the carb from the tank,turn engine over,if fuel spurts out,then its not fuel prob ,sounds like a fuel filter prob to me
