How can I fix my Hitachi DVD/Music System model AX-M138?

I have a Hitachi AX-M138 mini system which is powered by the sub woofer through a scart lead the sub woofer is receiving power via the mains but the actual system will not switch on even though the scart lead is attached from the sub woofer any idea's why it won't work??
