Mend Wall Clock Batteries

New wall clock won't run?

Bought a new wall clock and have tried 1 regular AA batteries and even expensive AA batteries that are to be used in digital cameras. Longest it has run is 4 days and stops. Regular batteries only about 1-6 hours and stops. I returned the 1st clock and got another exactly like it thinking the 1st may have been defective. But 2nd does the same thing.
