How can if fix my starting problems?

My 97 berlingo wont start in the morning or once warm after about 3 hours, the glow light only lights up for about 2 seconds on heating, after the usual morning bump start which includes a lot of grey blue smoke were off. it will now start fine after a few glows. have already replaced the glow plugs dont know where to look now
