Mend Ford Transit Overheating Water Pump Thermostat

how can i fix my cutting out problem?

my 03 plate transit van cuts out on a run the temp gauge shoots up ihavechecked the waterpump no leaks and removed the thermostat

is it fwd?if so look at the end of the camshaft-g/box side,there is a small fan belt and an auto adjuster,had a few of these breaking up,think these run the water pump,hence overheating and goes into limp home and cuts out,restarts when cooler then overheats and cuts out again,worth look good luck
