My toilet is contstantly running?

My toilet is constantly running and it has a siamp storm 33a single flush valve and a compact 99b bottom inlet valve. It appears that the 'float' is sinking in the water. If it had been a ballcock i know to lift the arm, but haven't got a clue what to do with this inlet valve (assuming it is that causing the problem). I am recently divorced (woman) so am a novice at this so can you keep the answers simple please?

I have a similar problem - I suggest trying:
Turn the main house stopcock fully on
Wash the internal fittings in dishwasher when problem occurs
Always keep a "toilet blue block in place"
Add a dash of washing up liquid in cylinder every so often
Renew any plastic/rubber seals
The problem could be dirt (or bacteria if using rainwater) on the seal ring located low inside cylinder

But do not worry if you get it wrong - nobody will come to your house to inspect the fill level - and the regulations plumber speaks of apply only in the UK.

on the cistern there should be a marking line this gives you a 6 ltr flush which is the right amount you need to flush thats in the water regs not an inch below the overflow

They often have a little nylon adjusting screw on the arm close to the inlet valve - it shuts off the water - screw it in towards the valve & do up the locknut.

Flush several times & watch the action - keep adjusting until you get the water level about half an inch below that of the overflow pipe.
