just recently when starting car (n reg escort lx 1.4 5dr hatch mk6) cold i can hear a whineing coming from engine it was getting louder when reving,popped bonet and thought it was coming from the cylinder head, cut of engine tried again later and no sound heard any ideas much appreciated cheers.
sounds like either fan belt or timing belt or timing belt tentioner best getting it checked out soonish as if timing belt is catching on something and does snap could end up costing £500+ to fix the damage
