Mend TomTom Tom Come

how to get TomTom to come on?

my TomTom has a green light but nothing else. the screen is dark/blank no sounds or anthing is coming from it. one is two years old and the other one (my son's TomTom) is a refurbished one. what can be done or do i have to purchase new ones?
