my renault megane problem?

i have a renault megane 1998 it jus cut out on me we tryed jump starting it but nothing worked my electric windows dnt work but radio still works. i was waiting for a recovery truck to pick me up and i tryed to start the car for a last time it started up but then went to put the lights on and it cut out has any one got any ideas what this could be
