cover plate removal ?

Greetings
I have a whirlpool side by side (circa 2004)
model ed20tqxfw02
it seems there is a problem with the rubber flap not opening nor closing properly. I need to get that cover plate off to see what parts I need. I thinks it snaps off but want to know how to get it off without breaking it.
