when you disconected the plug from the Mprop on the pump ,it defaults to MAX fuel pressure ,and puts on the warning you had and the engine sounds like a bag of spanners ,so you where driving with MAX pressure in the fuel rail at all times ...not good .check the oil level and see if fuel has got in to the sump
not sure about the iveco ,but with the DAF the pre filter housing gets chocked with crud which puts the warning on when the engine is under load ..never had any issues ...
when you change the injectors they do smoke like hell till you take them for a good run..i imagine it's what remnants of fluid bosch use to test them ..
if you haven't cracked the head, which i doubt ,though may need pressure testing .but if you are having excess fuel coming out the leak off then it will probably be injectors ...remove the tubes but don't mix them up as they have to go back in to the inj they came out of ,look at the end of the tube and check for erossion you'll see lines where the fuel has escaped by ..you may just get away with 6 new tubes ..if iveco don't do them seperate ,then DAF dealers or cummins should ..the nut that holds them is torqued to 50nm ,you can try tightening that first ..also make sure the inj bolts are tightened down evenly are the clamp they go through is not at an angle ....to test the injectors blank of number 1 on the rail so its only running on five injectors ,and over a min you should get less than 30ml at the leak off..then do no 2 etc...if you get more than 30ml ,say 60ml and when you disconnect no2 it drops to 30ml then no2 is faulty ,you then replace no2 and then carry out the test again starting at no1 till you get to no6 .and you should have 30ml or less at each injector...
only other idea is pressure relief valve is faulty
