Trimmer will not start?

There is good tension & return on pull starter but it is not engaging. A small plastic part & a coil spring seem to be the problem. It is a Garden Line trimmer (AGL 0036)

Did you find a solution to this issue as I have exactly the same problem? I can't put the plastic part and spring back in the right way!
