Renault Megane Coupe 2007?

I returned to my car yesterday to find a haze of smoke in the car and a smell of burning, I found the smell to be coming from the boot of my car. I then found that the smell was coming from a black box in the boot of the car, but this box is sealed, does anyone know what is in the box and secondly what the problem could be
