Mend Makita 9910 Belt Stopped

how can i fix my makita 9910 belt sander? runs but the belt stopped spinnin?

it is still running until i actually place the sander on the wood, then the belt stops moving.( the rear spinner is spinning but not the front one. I just turned it on without the belt being on & its only the rear spinning. )

The drive belt has worn the grippers off, it will not operate till you replace the belt .Ensure machine is unpluged, remove the panel on the side held with 3 screws and the belt can be removed .
