Mend Singer 9410 Power Start Seconds

foot pedal power not constant?

when i start sewing with my singer 9410, after about 2 seconds, the needle slows down and stops, and I have to raise my foot on the pedal and push again (like pumping the pedals on a piano)--wondering if I just need a new foot pedal, or if the problem is something else?

Hello Marti,
If you take the foot control apart you should see an adjusting screw on the end of the ceramic block but first of all I would make sure the machine is oiled in case it is starting to seize somewhere.
