how can i fix my condensair easy load tumble dryer?

My tumble dryer is 13 years old in April and i would be devastated to lose it but every time i press the button to turn it on it knocks all the electric off in the house.I've had a look at the inside and it seems that the plastic covers on the leads to the switch have rotted and seem to be loose somewhere,please help so i can get it repaired
