if this was frozen solid and started the small fan belt which runs off the camshaft on g/box side if the cyl.head may be giving you problems,think this runs the water pump and if it was frozen solid the belt would soon burn out,no water pump and hence over heating,also the auto adjuster for this belt can give problems also,hard to say without seeing your motor but worth a look in this area anyway,good luck
