Mend Ravenheat White Star Boiler Heating

how can i stop the water pressure rising on my ravenheat white star boiler?

usually we have to raise the pressure on the boiler but since this very cold spell the pressure is rising itself going past bar 4 is this safe to use,and can i fix it myself

ours was doing the same.Firstly i made sure the valve to fill it wasnt leaking, or partially still open.With ours it wasnt.Never the less it still released water from the boiler through the pressure valve outside once higher than 3bar but then when it cooled down there wasnt enough pressure for it to re-fire up. bought an 18 ltr external expansion vessel from screwfix for £25.99. Fitted that & now she runs at a constant 1.5 bar
