Connected positive to positive when trying to jump start another car?

Hi, I just did the cardinal sin of wrongly connecting my jump wires when using my Megan to start another car. There was a lot of sparks on the positive battery terminal, followed by the wipers coming on and all electrics jamming. I had an error message on the dash that read - Electric Fault. Having disconnected the battery to stop the engine, and then reconnecting, I now have no power at all. Does this mean the on-board computer has had it? and are there any checks that I can make to before handing it over to a garage??

Thanks for any help you can give.

Perfect. It was one of the 30A fuses that had gone on the battery at just £4.50.

Thanks for the advice

As stated, check the in-line fuse on the battery cable and the big fuse in the box, you might get lucky.

I never let jump leads near my Renaults, the electronics on them are very fragile and the power surge can cause dreadful damage even if you do it correctly.
If anyone asks me I just say I have a fancy alarm system fitted and the voltage draw trips the alarm.

check to see if main battery lead has a main fuse incoperated in it ,if so it may have blown.
