dishwasher not working ?

Hi Can anyone help, My dishwasher which is a diplomat ADP8242 has stopped working correctly after a wooden spoon fell onto the heating element. it still starts up ok and the heating element still heats up and the water fills into the dishwasher. Has anyone any ideas whether it can be saved or is it time for a new one?
