need help to fix satellite 200?

i have recently bought a satellite 200 nsm. it was working perfectly but the motor was not spinning the record fast enough so no sound. I noticed the spring was worn on the lever that adjusts the pressure of the spinning pin that comes out the spinning motor that connects on a large wheel to turn the record. I switched off and put on a new 1. Now the motor is not spinning even when not in contact with anything, also when the player slides down to the left when its selecting a record it reches the end and stops. I get an error then and has to be switched off at mains to reset it.
Im gutted as not got a clue how or what has happend
