I have an 04 reg megane scenic with an automatic parking brake. This morning the car would not move and was showing a message saying "Parking Brake Fault", the handbrake could not be taken off manually and the handbrake red light is flashing. is there any thing I can do to make the car driveable so I can get it to a garage?
Was it very cold? Brake pads will freeze on to the discs in very low temperatures. Not a lot you can do about it as the brake comes on automatically in these cars. I had similar recently and eventually got the pads free by reversing and then going forward a few times.
Not a great system in the cold it seems. How do they cope with the cold in France? Plenty of areas get to very low temperatures there.
