Where do I start with fitting a offside front Mcpherson strut to my car?

Where do I start with fitting a offside front Mcpherson strut to my car? I have a 1.4 Clio 1992 automatic which has just failed because of excessive movent formt he mcpherson strut. I want to do it myself as I have done a few bits to cars and have a good knowledge for someone who is not a professional. How easy is this to do?? I have 2 weeks before the retest. Any help very much appreciated!!
