how do i stop new fan belt from burning?

have you got a multi v belt , have all the pullyes got the same number of v's , this was a problem i had , altenator had one more v than all the rest , belt only lasted a few weeks and plenty of smelly rubber. olso have you got a auto tensioner , might have gone weak

are all the pulleys turning ok?some drive the water pump and if there is a weak a/freeze mixture the cooling system can freeze,especially just now in cold weather and the pump will not turn,but just guessing as you haven`t given any veh. details
