Mend Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery Laptop Charging

No Battery is Detected?

I am using an Inspiron 6400 and the message is : No Battery detected. I always have to plug the power supply on to use the computer. The battery check indicates all lights on at the back. Do I need to change the battery, or is it a problem with charging ?
