My Scovil Hamilton Beach food processor works backwards?

I've had my food processor for years and never a problem until the other day. I could not get it to operate unless the food shoot was directly in front of me. I thought that the shoot was at the back of the appliance and that the bowl was directly in front of me. I couldn't find my manual. Am I not remembering this correctly? I just used it a few weeks ago and it was fine. The bowl seems to fit a little cranky when I try to put the shoot at the back. HELP!
