banging noise in pipes?

had a new toilet fitted recently and had to turn off the stopcock so toilet could be fitted as the isolation valve for toilet had to be renewed, since this has happened we keep hearing a banging noise every now and again from the pipes, how can we sort this ourselves

Try turning the stop tap down slightly or until it stops.
The condition is called water hammer and is very common. Basically what happens is when your toilet is close to shutting off, the water pressure closes off suddenly, causing a thump. As I say its probably because you have opened the stop tap to far and you live in a high water pressure area.

yea you should be able to sort this no problem.
I would imagine that the noise comes some time after the flush has been pulled, if so then the banging is loose pipes in the floor that will resinate around your home when the diafram in the cistern closes off the water supply.
Just need to lift floor boards and and secure pipes with clips and use a product hairfelt every time a pipe is cut through the top of the joist. One wrap of Hairfelt around the pipe will also help on heating pipes when you hear that tapping noise get faster.
Hope this helps
