my lcd tv goes onto standby after a few seconds?

I think the loud bang should be a good enough reason to suspect that this is a serious problem that cant be resolved without professional help.

If it only happened once it was probably a capacitor blowing and shorting out causing the hard fault.

As you sill have any lights you might still have a good chance of a cheap repair. If you are game you cloud remove the covers and look for the blown cap (if that is the problem) and remove it, then replace it, but I suggest you take it to a repair shop before doing more damage.

i had this problem with one of my tv's...turned out to be dry joints...can be repaired but will go again...its to do with the solder becoming "dry"...over time the pcb gets over heated and dry's the flux from the solder ....hope this helps
