Mend Scantronic 500r+ Security System

What do I need to do next?

I have a Scantronic 500r+ alarm fitted, The unit has been lying dormant for some time now (although prior to the battery dying was working well). On fitting a new battery to the unit I find that it lights up the system but will not respond to the original 4 digit security code. What do I do next. ?
