Lost the handbook and need some help with Zanussi TC-418w Tumble dryer?

We have been given the TC-418 from a friend but there is no handbook. The problem is very basic, we find the timer select confusing having two points, '0' on the timer to select the start for each of the two programs. That part is easy, but when operating they do not stop at the '0' at the end of the cycle. Is this a fault or is that how it is?
Also I have replaced the door open/on-off switch and still find that it is difficult to stop and open the door. It requires pressing the button in as far as it will go and then pulling on the door at the same time!!
Are there any mods that can be made to correct this?

Yes, I replaced the original one with a new one because I changed the door opening direction and found that the original cable was broken on the side I needed. The cable lengths are different for operating the door from either side, having moved the latch to the preferred side.
Is it possible that there is something odd with cable lengths when switching the door round?
Is it possible to slip something over the cable to effectively reducing the length of the cable.

did you replace the wire that hooks in to the door release and goes to the door release mech?.these stretch causing your problem!.instruction manual is downloadable from here for free
